Indian enterprises are accelerating their adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) strategies to enhance their business models and deliver unique experiences to their customers, a new study showed.
The study, undertaken by the Institute for Business Value at IBM, surveyed 500 executives from large enterprises in 15 countries, including India, China, the United States, and Sweden, to assess the maturity of their AI adoption and the impact on their organisations.
According to the study, almost half of the Indian enterprises polled reported embedding AI initiatives into their business strategies, with 34 per cent claiming to be pioneers, making their country one of the top ten countries leading the world in AI adoption.
The study identified India as one of the leading nations in adopting AI across various industries, with the highest rate of adoption in the IT and telecommunications industry, followed by financial services, healthcare, and automotive industries.
Additionally, the study found that Indian enterprises have realised that AI can benefit their bottom line and accelerate innovation. About 89 per cent of Indian organisations surveyed said that AI has already helped them improve their efficiency, while 83 per cent said it has helped improve customer experiences. About 82 per cent said it has helped them improve products and services, and 80 per cent said it has boosted their competitive advantage.
"The findings confirm that Indian enterprises have embraced AI as a key driver of innovation, organisational efficiency, and competitive advantage," said Sandip Patel, GM and CEO of IBM India.
