Bihar Receives Record Investment of Rs 1.8 Lakh Crore

Bihar has recently secured a record investment of Rs 1.81 lakh crore, marking a significant milestone in the state's economic development. This influx of capital is poised to bolster key sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

At the Bihar Business Connect 2024 summit, the state government signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 423 companies, reflecting a diverse range of industries. Notably, Sun Petrochemicals has committed Rs 36,700 crore towards renewable energy projects, including pump hydro and solar plants. The Adani Group has announced an investment of approximately Rs 28,000 crore, focusing on establishing an ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, expanding cement production capacity, and venturing into food processing and logistics sectors.

Other significant contributors include NTPC Green, the renewable energy arm of the state-owned power generator, which has committed Rs 10,000 crore to clean energy projects. SJVN, formerly known as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, has pledged a similar amount for pump storage projects. Additionally, NHPC, India's largest hydroelectric producer, plans to invest Rs 5,500 crore in setting up a 1,000 MW solar project.

The food processing sector is also witnessing substantial investments, with SLMG Beverages, a bottler for Coca-Cola, committing Rs 3,000 crore. Shree Cements has announced an Rs 800 crore investment, and Haldiram Snacks Pvt Ltd has pledged Rs 300 crore towards expanding their operations in the state.

These developments underscore Bihar's growing appeal as an investment destination, driven by proactive government policies and a focus on creating a conducive environment for businesses. The state's commitment to fostering economic growth is evident in the diverse range of sectors attracting significant investments.
