Cybercrime is on the rise, and Telangana is fighting back with a new initiative. The state's Cyberabad Police, in collaboration with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), launched an awareness program called Project P.R.O.T.E.C.T (Preventing Risks Online Through Education, Collaboration and Training). The initiative launched on Tuesday aims to reach as many people as possible using physical posters and digital media and educate them on best practices to prevent cybercrimes.
Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mohanty told ANI that the program aims to reach one million people by the end of the campaign. The Commissioner also highlighted that the program is volunteered by members of the Cyber Security Council, students from various educational institutions, and police officers.
The initiative will include informative videos that will be circulated on social media and at different public spaces such as malls, metro stations, bus stops, offices, and eateries. The aim is to educate people on the risks of excessive tech adoption without adequate security protocols and promote safe practices to mitigate the risk of becoming victims of cybercrimes.
With this proactive initiative, the state aims to empower its citizens with the knowledge to recognize and prevent cybercrimes and strengthen its digital space.
This new initiative is a positive step forward in creating a safer digital space and empowering individuals to protect themselves and their personal information.
