Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has outlined ambitious plans to develop a mega industrial hub near the port at Ramayapatnam, Nellore. The proposed project, which is awaiting approval from the Revenue Department and relevant state agencies, is projected to bring a substantial number of foreign industries to the region. The government aims to attract high-value sectors such as petrochemicals, manufacturing, and renewable energy. This plan is expected to generate job opportunities and enhance the local economy.
The APIIC has proposed developing the hub across lands in the villages of Ramayapatnam-Chennayapalem, Anemadugu, and Tummalapenta in the Kavali mandal. The proposal includes measures to streamline land acquisition while minimising displacement impacts on local communities. Officials are optimistic that they can mitigate disruptions and address concerns through consultations.
The arrival of international firms is expected to benefit supporting industries such as housing, retail, and services, further boosting the local economy. With the Ramayapatnam Port already constructed and the APIIC proposal awaiting final approvals, the Mega Industrial Hub is projected to draw substantial investments to Nellore, marking a significant step forward in the district's economic development.
Lastly, with the telecom industry built with indigenously manufactured chips securing Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) certification, it's a big leap for India's semiconductor story. The achievement was announced by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Twitter.
