Railway Revives Special Trains for Festive Season

Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions of the South Central Railway (SCR) have begun preparing for the upcoming festive season, according to a recent report. The SCR will offer special trains and additional coaches on some routes to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic.

The SCR analyzed traffic data from the previous year's festive season and found that demand was high for routes connecting Hyderabad with Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Bengaluru. Accordingly, the railway will lay out special trains on these routes starting this month and continuing through November and December.

The report also mentions that the SCR will announce the specific dates and timings of these special trains soon, keeping in mind the convenience of passengers. In addition, the authorities will run additional coaches on existing trains to neighboring states, such as Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, to accommodate the festive rush.

A committee of officials from commercial, operational, and safety departments rigorously examined the proposed special trains' feasibility, safety, and comfort, confirming that all necessary arrangements were made to accommodate the additional services.

The report added that the SCR was also proactive in maintaining rail infrastructure, managing passenger amenities, and ensuring adequate manpower at stations and trains during the festive season.

Directorate General of Railway (DGNR) officials stated that the decision to introduce special trains and additional coaches reflected the government's commitment to improving rail connectivity and boosting the regional economy and tourism.

"The SCR's efforts to cater to the increased demand during the festive season will be a huge relief for passengers," said Vinay Kumar Singh, an official from the DGNR. "The decision demonstrates the government's focus on enhancing the state's rail infrastructure and catering to the needs of millions of passengers during this festive season," he added.
