Are you ready to pay less for your glass of milk? According to the Amul MD, you may be soon paying Rs 4 less per litre of milk. Find out what this means for your household and the broader economic implications.
For many of us, particularly those with a love for coffee, tea, and baked goods, the price of milk is of utmost importance. This staple item in many households is now set to become more affordable, at least according to a recent statement by the Managing Director of Amul, RS Sodhi. He announced that the price of milk across all of Amul's products, including Amul Gold and Amul Toned Milk, will decrease by Rs 4 per litre.
Currently, Amul Gold (full cream) milk is priced at Rs 69 per litre, while Amul Toned milk is available for Rs 57 per litre. These prices are set to decrease by Rs 4, although it is yet unclear when this reduction will take effect.
In an interview, Sodhi stated that the reduction is largely due to customer demand, despite increases in profits over the last year. "Yes, we are passing on the benefit to consumers. In the last two quarters, we have done well. We are passing on that benefit to consumers, which will help to create more demand and push up consumption," said Sodhi.
While this is certainly welcome news to many consumers' wallets, it remains to be seen whether this decrease will be reflected across all brands and at all retail outlets. Moreover, it will be interesting to see whether this price adjustment sparks a broader trend in the dairy industry, especially as Amul remains one of the leading brands in India.
For now, we'll just have to watch closely and enjoy our last few rupees of milk at the current prices... until the next decrease potentially comes our way.
