Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently visited Visakhapatnam to lay foundation stones for several crucial projects. These projects are aimed at securing the state's long-term water security and sustainable development.
The projects are largely focused on the Uttarandhra region, with the first phase of the proposed Sujala Sravanthi irrigation project. This is a significance move away from the dependence on the construction of dams and towards utilizing the ocean waters from the Bay of Bengal. The project aims to provide potable water to residents in the parched Uttarandhra region. With the first phase, the project will bring water from Thagarapuvalsa Madduvilasula Reservoir to Chativivari Reservoir in Narasannapeta.
The second phase of the project will concentrate on providing drinking water to residents in the coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam.
Another major project aimed at providing drinking water to the parched Rayalaseema and Nellore regions is the revival of the Polavaram Irrigation Project and the Srisailam Dam protection works. The CM directed officials to expedite the tender process for both projects, which are crucial for long-term water security and sustainable development.
These projects are part of the state government's focus on developing a robust water supply system and ensuring ample water availability throughout the state.
"Andhra Pradesh is at the forefront of leveraging technology for sustainable development. Our vision is to create a resilient state that can thrive despite the challenges of climate change and growing water needs. These projects are a step in that direction."
With these projects, the Andhra Pradesh CM is prioritizing long-term water security, and moving towards a resilient and sustainable future for the state.
