ally Shiv Sena UBT warns Congress about renaming Shivaji Nagar Metro station

In yet another twist in the tale between the governments of Maharashtra and Karnataka, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has slammed Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, over the renaming of the Shivaji Nagar Metro station in Bengaluru.

Siddaramaiah recently proposed renaming the station to St. Mary station to commemorate the Basilica of St. Mary, one of the oldest churches in Bengaluru.

Fadnavis criticized the move and highlighted how the proposal has offended the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra, given that the metro station is named after the great Maratha leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Speaking to the media, Fadnavis emphasized that the people of Maharashtra will not forget this affront, and "history will not forgive you," he warned.

Shiv Sena's urban unit, UBT, also voiced their dissent with the renaming, accusing the Congress of deliberately offending the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra and north Karnataka, who are predominantly Marathi-speaking.

This ongoing feud between the two states has been ongoing for years but continues to surprise with new antics from both governments.

Only time will tell what the public and political response to these sentiments will be, but for now, Karnataka remains committed to its decision to rename the metro station.
