At the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) held in Kolkata, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani announced an additional investment of ₹20,000 crore in West Bengal over the next three years. This investment will focus on enhancing digital life solutions, expanding Reliance Retail's footprint, and developing bio-energy projects in the state.

Ambani highlighted that Reliance has already invested close to ₹45,000 crore in West Bengal in recent years. The new investment aims to further boost the state's growth by providing quality education, healthcare, and agricultural solutions at scale. He emphasized Reliance's commitment to leaving "no stone unturned to accelerate Bengal's growth."

In the digital sector, Reliance Jio has achieved 98.8% population coverage in West Bengal, with 100% coverage in the Kolkata Telecom Circle. The company plans to roll out Jio 5G services across the country before the end of 2023, further enhancing digital connectivity in the state.

Reliance Retail is also rapidly increasing its presence in West Bengal. The network of nearly 1,000 retail stores is set to expand to over 1,200 within the next two years. Through Jio Mart, approximately 5.5 lakh kirana merchants in the state have been integrated into the organized retail framework, resulting in higher productivity and income for these small businesses.

In the area of bio-energy, Reliance plans to establish 100 compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants in West Bengal over the next three years. These plants will consume 5.5 million tonnes of agricultural residue and organic waste, enabling farmers to increase their incomes by becoming both 'anna daatas' (producers of food) and 'urja daatas' (producers of energy).

Additionally, the Reliance Foundation has undertaken the task of renovating and restoring the iconic Kalighat Temple in Kolkata to its original glory, reflecting the company's commitment to preserving the state's rich cultural heritage.
