Cutting edge technology has once again helped solve a mysterious crime. The FBI has released footage capturing a suspect on the roof of the building near the scene of the Charlie Kirk shooting on February 2nd. The US flag shirt and baseball cap wearing man, believed to be the same suspect, was captured in a nearby CCTV camera at the approximate time of the shooting as well.
Earlier this week, the FBI released a sketch of a "person of interest" in the February 2nd shooting of Republican leader Charlie Kirk in his home state of Illinois. With the help of artificial intelligence, the FBI was able to create a suspect likeness from the fleeting image of the suspect caught on a security camera near the parking lot where the shooting occurred.
Although the man in the US flag outfit was not spotted near the parking lot, the FBI believes he could have had a significant role in the planning and execution of the crime and is treating him as a suspect. The man was seen running across the roof of a nearby building, where the FBI later discovered a stolen car parked nearby.
"We are committed to resolving this investigation as quickly as possible," said FBI representative Joel Smith. "We appreciate the public's role in providing tips and information that have already helped in this case."
This breakthrough in the case comes after the FBI previously released images of two persons of interest captured on security cameras near the parking lot where the shooting occurred. These individuals were seen walking towards Kirk's car just minutes before the shooting.
The investigation is still ongoing.
