Ex-PAK Batter Compares Jasprit Bumrah With Richard Hadlee: '7-9 Steps And Still Manages To...'

Former Pakistani opener Mohsin Khan has praised Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah's unique and dangerous bowling style, drawing comparisons with the late former New Zealand captain Richard Hadlee. Mohsin, commenting on Bumrah's unorthodox action and incredible control, noted that the Indian seamer is "like a cheetah waiting to pounce" and highlighted his exceptional ability to bowl with consistency. The former opening batsman also expressed confidence in Mohammad Siraj's potential and predicted that he will be a mainstay in the Indian bowling attack for years to come.

Bumrah, who recently took eight wickets in the second Test against South Africa, is currently ranked number one in the ICC Test Bowlers ranking. Since making his Test debut against South Africa in 2018, he has taken 208 wickets in 57 matches, becoming the fastest Indian bowler to reach 100, 150, and 200 wickets in the format. His remarkable success has seen him become a regular in the Test side and a cornerstone of the One Day International (ODI) and T20I teams.

"I have seen Jasprit Bumrah closely when he played for the India A team against my team Pakistan A in 2018. I was impressed with his abilities even back then," said Mohsin Khan on theGEO Super Podcast. "I believe he is an even better bowler now. He has improved a lot; he has gained more confidence, and his bowling has become more dangerous."

"He is an unorthodox bowler with an unusual action, but he manages to maintain his momentum and balance perfectly," he continued. "Even when he bowls his mind-boggling slower balls, he keeps his action almost the same. His ability to get the ball to move in surprising directions makes him so special. You can never predict what he is going to do next."

On comparing Bumrah to Hadlee, Mohsin stated: "Hadlee had an unusual action as well. He had a very pronounced lift of the back foot before coming down onto the front foot. He would do 7-9 steps and still manage to get his body momentum going forward."

"Although Bumrah's action is very different, he has managed to generate that pace and bounce consistently. That's a great thing about him. He is like a cheetah waiting to pounce. When he starts running, he just doesn't look like a guy who will bowl 140 clicks; his bowling action is so deceptive."

On Siraj, Mohsin said: "I have watched him closely during the three Tests here in Pakistan. I think he is a very good bowler. He is quick, and he can get the ball to move. If he can continue to maintain his line and length, he can become a very successful bowler for India."

"I like his passion, his determination, and the way he goes about his business. He is a true warrior of the game."

With Bumrah set to lead India's bowling attack in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, Mohrah's praises come at a time when the speedster is at the top of his game.
