AAP MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura sentenced to 4 years

Incarcerated for four years, Manjinder Singh Lalpura has been accused of violating his political career, as well as his driving one. Once a taxi driver, this AAP MLA from Punjab is now caught up in scandal, in a case dating back to 2013.

Before his career in politics, Manjinder Singh Lalpura was a taxi driver in Punjab, a vocation that would return to haunt him. On the night of December 31, 2013, Lalpura picked up a 28-year-old woman from the outskirts of Kharar, asking if she wanted to book a cab. Things escalated when he took advantage of the woman, molesting her and touching her in an inappropriate manner.

In August of this year, Manjinder Singh Lalpura was sentenced to four years in prison by a local court, after being convicted of assault and molestation. Since August, Lalpura has been released on bail, but must pay a 500 rupee bond.

This is not the first time something like this has happened to Lalpura. In fact, he has been involved in four different molestation cases since 2011.

While the AAP party has not commented on the case, with elections on the horizon, it's clear that Manjinder Singh Lalpura's seat among the party will be a contentious one.
