MCD failing to check illegal construction, says AAP

The AAP has accused the MCD of failing to act against illegal construction and mushrooming of illegal colonies in the district, claiming that the ruling party is practising "selective politics" in this regard.

According to AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha, "In the last four months, more than 5,000 complaints of illegal construction and mushrooming of illegal colonies have been received by the MCDs." However, only 20 complaints have seen any action, highlighting the ruling party's selective approach to addressing the issue.

Chadha accused the BJP of practising "selective politics" on the issue, claiming that the party was only acting against small businesses and leaving large, well-connected builders and politicians unaffected.

The accusation comes after a fire broke out in a Delhi neighbourhood, killing at least 27 factory workers. Raghav Chadha said that the ongoing investigation into the tragedy should focus on how illegal construction and corruption enabled such a horrific incident.

The statement concluded by urging the MCD to take immediate action against illegal construction and ensure that such incidents never happen again.
