Infosys Plans to Onboard 20,000+ Freshers in FY26, Announces CFO

Infosys Chief Financial Officer JayeshSanghrajka announced that the IT services giant plans to hire over 20,000 freshgraduates in fiscal year 2026, signaling a recovery in demand and a rebound indiscretionary spending across various sectors.

Sanghrajka also stated that thecompany is on track to meet its target of hiring approximately 15,000 freshersin fiscal year 2025. This contrasts with rival HCLTech, which recently reducedits fresher hiring target from 10,000 to 7,000, citing increased efficiency andproductivity measures like Project Ascend.

In the third quarter ending December31, Infosys added 5,591 employees, marking its second consecutive quarter ofnet headcount growth after six quarters of slowdown.

Discussing the company's hiringstrategy for the upcoming quarters, Infosys CEO and MD Salil Parekh remarked,"We had strong hiring in Q3, with an expansion of over 5,000 employees. Weanticipate continued hiring based on discretionary spending, but there will beseasonality in line with our revenue trends."

After delaying its wage hike cycle tothe fourth quarter, Infosys will begin its compensation review process inJanuary, with a second phase in April. Sanghrajka noted, "While we don’tprecisely define the impact of compensation hikes on margins, there will besome headwinds in Q1 and Q4. We plan to offer 6-8% hikes in India, whileinternational increases will be aligned with prior reviews."

Meanwhile, in contrast to Infosys'sgrowth, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experienced a net loss of 5,370employees in Q3 following two quarters of headcount increases. HCLTech, on theother hand, added 2,134 employees after reversing its previous trend.

Infosys reported strong Q3 earnings,with a year-on-year net profit increase of 11.4%, reaching Rs 6,806 crore,surpassing Street expectations. A Moneycontrol poll of nine brokerages hadpredicted a net profit of Rs 6,734 crore and revenue of Rs 41,206 crore for thequarter.

Revenue from operations for Infosysgrew by 7.5%, totaling Rs 41,764 crore in Q3FY25, up from Rs 38,821 crore inQ3FY24. Additionally, Infosys raised its constant currency (CC) revenue growthforecast for FY25 to 4.5-5%, marking the third consecutive quarter of upwardrevisions from its previous guidance of 3.75-4.5%.
