AP Pilgrims Safeguarded by Providence and Authorities

A special flight carrying 40 pilgrims, including 19 from Kadapa, 9 from Tirupati, 5 from Nellore, 3 from Annamayya, and 2 each from Nandyal and Anantapur districts, has finally touched down at Renugunta airport after a traumatic experience in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.

The pilgrims, mostly elderly and women, were among the 144 Telugu-speaking tourists stranded in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, which has been hit by unprecedented violence and anti-government protests. They recount their harrowing experience and express gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh government for swiftly responding to the situation and rescuing them from Nepal.

Prakash Babu, from Chittoor, says their bus was attacked, with the windshield and windows broken. Women hid under seats to protect themselves from the stone pelters, but the quick-thinking driver risked his life to keep driving and eventually saved the passengers.

Vijaya, a Tirupati resident, says her group was also attacked but escaped back to the hotel, where they remained in hiding. She adds that she will be forever grateful to the government for orchestrating their safe rescue.

This special flight marks an emotional homecoming, a weight off the minds of the family members of the stranded pilgrims, and a beacon of hope in a time of crisis.
