Pakistani Influencer Dupes Hyderabad Man of Rs 25 L

Hyderabad, Indian: A tragic case of online matrimonial fraud has emerged, with a gang of dupers using photos of Pakistani influencer and YouTuber Parwasha Shah to swindle a man of Rs 25 lakh. The victim, who was searching for a bride online, came across an Instagram profile named khoobsurat.rishte in March 2023. Speaking to a woman who claimed to be the profile owner, the victim learned that the account was allegedly created by her parents, and she was looking for a suitable match.

The woman introduced herself as Muskaan and began speaking to the victim, sharing personal details and even making video calls to gain his trust. Soon, she started demanding money under various pretexts, including health emergencies and household expenses. Believing her promises of marriage, the victim transferred Rs 25 lakh to the bank accounts, provided by the accused.

Later, he discovered that the images actually belonged to a Pakistani influencer, Parwasha Shah. When the victim confronted her, she denied any involvement and refused to return the money. Based on his complaint, Hyderabad Cybercrime police registered a case and arrested the primary accused, identified as Aneesa Mohmadyaseen Hundekar of Bijapur, and Mohammed Abdul Aamer of Hyderabad. Another accused, Zohar Fathima, is currently absconding.

Officials have advised the public to remain vigilant against online marriage scams, warning people to be cautious of quick commitments, financial requests, or refusal to meet in person. For any help for victims of cyber fraud, they advise calling 1930 or reporting at cybercrime.gov.in.

This is a shocking case that warns us of the severe and pressing dangers of identity fraud and the traps of online marriage rackets.
