Karedu Village's Land Acquisition Kicks Off With Rs. 29.57 Cr. Compensation.

In the third phase, the government has released Rs 29.57 crores to compensate 38 farmers whose land acquisition totalled 136.62 acres in Karedu village. The total amount paid to 139 farmers in three phases now stands at Rs 62.38 crores. The remaining 635 farmers will also receive compensation for the acquisition of their land in the village.

The government plans to acquire a total of 1,265 acres from 635 farmers for a Solar Module Manufacturing Plant (SMMP) set up by Indosol Solar Private Limited in Ulavapadu mandal. The administration is proceeding with the acquisition despite opposition from local farmers and political parties. The district Collector, O Anand, has been instrumental in convincing the farmers to accept the land acquisition by assuring them of Rs 20 lakhs per acre of land and jobs for one member from each displaced family.

The administration is considering setting up a dedicated office in Karedu village to handle land acquisition.
