Gaza Under Siege

Genocide and corruption expose blatant impunity and apathy in the face of Palestinian suffering.

Yesterday evening, another Israeli attack on a Gaza refugee camp left at least 45 Palestinians dead the majority of them civilians, including 15 children. It has been over a week since the Israeli military onslaught on Gaza began as a response to an attack on Tel Aviv, leaving Israel to face international condemnation and frustrated calls for peace.

According to the United Nations, since the escalation, at least 152 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, including 42 children and 29 women. This equates to an estimated one-third of the total deaths being children. Meanwhile, an estimated 50 million dollars' worth of damage has been inflicted on Gaza's infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, and schools.

The crisis has triggered outrage and protests across the world. The mounting death toll and increasing civilian casualties have prompted a backlash against Israel, with many urging governments to hold Israel accountable for its actions and end their military support for the country.

The severity of the situation illuminates the paradox of a vulnerable people perpetually under siege, denied basic humanitarian and human rights, and the ongoing struggle for freedom and self-determination.

The Israeli Defense Forces have claimed that the recent attacks on Gaza are part of a larger effort to stop terrorism and that they are careful to minimize civilian casualties.

End with a statement from the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Shtayyeh, calling for international intervention:

"We ask the international community to immediately intervene to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and to provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and to act to provide the necessary support for the reconstruction of Gaza."
