Donald Trump To Visit UK On Sept 16-18 To Meet King Charles At Windsor

What will be on the agenda when Donald Trump meets with King Charles at Windsor Castle? After a fraught relationship with the United Kingdom and the royal family during his time as US president, Donald Trump is set to visit the country from September 16-18. It will be the first visit to the UK by a former American president since 2017 and comes as King Charles has attempted to emphasize his role as head of state and, arguably, further distance himself from his father, King Charles III.

The visit will include a audience with the King and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where the King and Queen will host the former President and his wife, Melania Trump.

It is understood the meeting with the monarch will be the highlight of the former president's trip and that the two will discuss 'the importance of the transatlantic relationship and global priorities, including climate change' a topic on which the Trump administration and the monarch had a notably stark difference of opinion.

It is not known who extended the invitation to Trump, but senior palace sources said the King was aware that the ex-president had yet to visit Britain since he left office and wanted to extend a welcome to him.

It comes as the Trumps plan to celebrate the reopening of their Scottish resort, Trump International, after it was closed for years due to a row with officials and the local community over its development.
