Hyderabad police have arrested three domestic workers accused of murdering a woman in a gated community on Friday. The victim, a senior executive at a multinational company, was living alone in her apartment due to the lockdown.
According to the police, the suspects, working for the deceased woman for over a year, had stolen money and valuables from the house on previous occasions. They allegedly decided to kill the woman after witnessing her withdraw large amounts of cash from the bank for holidays abroad.
The police believe the suspects manipulated the doorman and security guards to enter and leave the premises with the stolen goods. They allegedly murdered the woman on the day of the robbery, hitting her with a hammer, tying her up with duct tape, and stuffing her body in a bag. She was reported missing by her family, which led to the suspects' arrest after the police discovered CCTV footage and other evidence linking them to the murder.
The case has brought attention to the issue of safety of single women living alone in gated communities.
The police have filed charges of murder and robbery, with the suspects currently in police custody.
