Childless couples duped of their life savings in a heartbreaking scam are finally getting the justice they deserve. The Central Crime Station (CCS) Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken over the Universal Srushti Fertility Centres' cash-for-baby case, exposing a large-scale racket targeting desperate couples. The move came after multiple complaints were filed, raising serious concerns about the scale of the fraud. Officials confirmed the seizure of confidential documents and digital evidence during raids in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The racket's disturbing methodology is now coming to light. Dr. Athaluri Namratha, the owner of Universal Srushti Fertility Centre, lured couples with false promises of IVF treatment, only to push them into costly surrogacy later. Victims were given fabricated scan reports and charged between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 40 lakh for promises of legal support and surrogate arrangements. Experts are concerned that this kind of fraud can have profound effects on the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of the victims.
The SIT will intensify its investigation to trace financial transactions, forged medical reports, and the involvement of other institutions. This is indeed a welcome step that will help bring the perpetrators to justice and deliver justice to the victims. This case highlights the urgent need for increased transparency and regulation in the fertility industry to prevent such heinous practices.
