IND-W vs AUS-W first ODI: Rawal, Mandhana, Deol fifties take India Womens to 281/7 against Australia

The opening match of the women's ODI series between India and Australia was interrupted by rain, but not before Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, and Harleen Deol scored half-centuries to help India post 281/7.

India's middle order, led by captain Mithali Raj, failed to fire in the opening match. Raj was dismissed for 4, followed by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh for a duck. However, Rawal (64 off 96 balls) and Mandhana (58 off 63) shared a 98-run stand for the third wicket to stabilize the innings. Deol, coming in at number 5, scored 54 off 57 deliveries, including nine fours.

However, the innings collapsed thereafter, with India losing its last five wickets for just 23 runs. Leg-spinner Alana King, who made her ODI debut today, was the most successful bowler for Australia, taking 3/59, while fellow spinner Jess Jonassen picked up two wickets.

India will look to make amends in the second ODI, hoping to give the visiting Australian side a tough fight in the remainder of the series.
