Student drug bust highlights vulnerabilities in Hyderabad's education centers

Recent drug seizures have exposed the increasing drug problem haunting Hyderabad's education institutions. The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau has discovered that drug trafficking is pervasive across various prestigious universities, with traffickers using courier services to evade strict airport security. Among the compromised institutions are Mahindra University, Symbiosis, and CBIT.

The bureau's investigation uncovered a supply chain linking interstate suppliers to student dealers on campus. Over 50 students are under scrutiny for drug use, with some relying on their allowance to fund their habit.

Psychologist Neha Agarwal remarks that students often resort to drugs to fill emotional voids, seeking acceptance or escaping fears, which may lead to addiction. Authorities emphasize strict monitoring and rehabilitating affected students.

Mahindra University is taking measures to combat the issue, increasing preventive measures, counseling, and collaborating with law enforcement. However, the bureau believes that capturing the main suspect, Nick, who is still at large, could reveal more about an international drug network.

The situation reveals the troubling reality of Hyderabad's education centers becoming hotspots for organized crime exploiting young students' vulnerabilities.
