A private school in Hyderabad is the surprising site of a recently busted drug racket, sending shockwaves through the community and country. Parents invest hefty sums to provide their kids with the best education and shelter, only to discover that their chosen school is a den of criminal activity.

Police discovered that director Malela Jaya Prakash Goud had converted classrooms and restricted areas into a facility to produce Alprazolam - a banned narcotic substance used in the adulteration of toddy. A raid conducted at the school by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) team of Telangana Police uncovered a chemistry lab - fitted with eight reactors and dryers used for large-scale drug production.

Officials recovered over 7 kg of Alprazolam, Rs 21 lakh in cash, large quantities of raw chemicals and manufacturing equipment. Hyderabad authorities have since commenced an investigation into the school's involvement.
