The State Polices Eagle team in Telangana raided a drug manufacturing unit in Bowenpally on Saturday, resulting in the seizure of approximately 7 kg of Alprazolam and Rs 20 lakh in cash. The operation targeted a clandestine lab set up in an abandoned school building, which reportedly operated from the principal's office and classrooms. Authorities arrested three individuals identified as Malela Jaya Prakash Goud, a 39-year-old resident of Old Bowenpally, identified as the mastermind of the operation. The drug network reportedly extended beyond Hyderabad into Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. The bust is a substantial win for the Telangana Police's ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and illegal manufacturing, dealing a significant blow to the Secunderabad drug mafia.
The drug manufacturing operation was led by Prakash Goud, who had taken over the closed school building and covertly converted it into a drug lab operating from the principal's room and other school floors. To avoid suspicion, Goud also conducted tuition classes in the evenings. The seized materials included four reactors and various chemicals used in the production process.
The police indicated that the investigation is ongoing, including the possible involvement of the former school principal and other accomplices in the drug operation.
Authorities also emphasized the inherent risks of abusing prescription drugs sourced through illegal channels, highlighting the potential dangers to public health and safety.
