Assam: More than 55 companies provide job opportunities for 1,000 ex-defense personnel at job fair

At a special job fair in Guwahati onFriday, government agencies and private companies offered over 1,500 jobopenings and 250 entrepreneurship opportunities to former defense personnel.

The event, held at the Narangicantonment, saw more than 1,000 retired army, navy, and air force personnelfrom Assam and surrounding regions attend, looking for new employmentopportunities, according to a defense spokesperson.

More than 55 companies participated inthe fair, presenting over 1,500 job positions and 250 opportunities forentrepreneurship, the spokesperson stated. The shortlisted ex-servicemen willundergo interviews and screening, with job roles available in seniorsupervision, mid to senior-level management, strategic planning, and projectmanagement.

Participating organizations includedCentury Plyboards, Bajaj Allianz, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, SIS Security,Star Cement, AIIMS Guwahati, Assam Skill Development Mission, Purabi Dairy(WAMUL), and NEEPCO, among others.

Various companies also showcasedentrepreneurship models at the fair. The event was organized by the DirectorateGeneral of Resettlement, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry ofDefence.

The job fair was inaugurated byAssam’s Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Minister Prashanta Phukan,along with several dignitaries.
