The 13-year-old reportedly went to the theater to watch a movie for the second time that night on November 28, 2022. The accused, a staff member at the theater, allegedly raped the minor on the premises while it was vacant.
Hyderabad police booked a theater staff member under the POCSO Act for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. The juvenile allegedly went to the theater for the second time on the night of November 28, 2022. According to the police, the accused, who was on duty at the time, raped the girl when the theater was vacant.
"The girl's parents filed a complaint on December 2 after which we registered a case against the accused," said Hyderabad's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhargav Dhoke. "We have booked the staff member under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC)."
The case came to light a week after the Hyderabad police arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly molesting and filming naked children at a public park. The incidents have sparked concerns over the safety of children in the area.
"We will not tolerate such heinous crimes against children," the ADC said. "We are committed to ensuring that the victims get justice and that such crimes are prevented in the future."
The case has shocked the local community and authorities, who are stepping up efforts to protect children. The police have urged parents to be aware of their children's locations and to warn them of the potential dangers.
The case is still under investigation.
