Hyedrabad's War on Drugs: Narcotics Seizures Reach Record High

In a recent coordinated operation, Telangana's elite EAGLE teams (against adulterated food, drugs, and mafia) seized narcotics with a street value over 1 crore Indian rupees (approximately 150,000 USD). The seizures, which took place between August 22 and September 7, 2025, amounted to over 200 kilograms of ganja (a locally grown weed). Twelve arrests were made across the state, with the largest seizure occurring in Inavolu, Warangal Commissionerate.

The September 7 bust, with over 200 kilograms of ganja, was the most significant seizure and amounted to over Rs 53 lakh. The drugs were reportedly destined for the local black market, fueling the state's drug trafficking issues. The EAGLE team has been at the forefront of the state's war on drugs, aiming to curb the supply and crackdown on trafficking.

The recent busts have highlighted the increasing drug problem in the state and have brought the EAGLE team's efforts to the forefront. The seizure of such a large quantity of drugs could be a major blow to the state's drug cartels.

Authorities have expressed that this is not the end of their efforts and that more operations to combat drug trafficking and organize crime will be carried out, hoping to make the state safer and healthier for citizens.
