The Municipal Commissioner of Nellore, YO Nandan, appealed to the public to take advantage of the NTR Sujala Safe Drinking Water (SSDW) scheme, which provides access to affordable and purified water to combat water-related diseases. The scheme was established in response to the directives of Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana.
Nandan highlighted that the municipal administration has established NTR SSDW plants at Venkateswarapuram and Vepadaruvu areas within the city, adding that 15 dispensary centers have also been set up in various locations. He stated that the plan is to supply 3 lakh liters of water daily through DCs to provide purified water to the public. People can avail of 20 liters of purified water for just Rs 2 under this scheme.
According to Nandan, the decision to establish these water plants and dispensaries was made to provide affordable, clean water to the public and help prevent water-borne diseases. He appealed to the general public to take advantage of this scheme, especially in the warmer summer months when the risk of water-related diseases increases.
This initiative is another step taken by the local government to prioritize public health and ensure affordable access to essential resources for all members of the community.
