India Clinches ODI Series as Rohit Sharma’s Century Seals Victory

India secured a series-clinching win in the 2nd ODI against England with a four-wicket victory in Cuttack, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Rohit Sharma’s scintillating 119 guided India to chase down England’s formidable 304-run target, proving his class with a dominant knock.

England Posts a Competitive 304

Batting first, England got off to a solid start with Phil Salt (41) and Ben Duckett (52) adding 81 runs for the opening wicket. However, India struck back with **quick wickets, dismissing Salt first and then Duckett soon after his fifty. Joe Root (50) kept England’s innings steady, while Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, and Liam Livingstone chipped in with useful contributions to help England cross the 300-run mark.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja (3/46) was the standout bowler, while Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Hardik Pandya, and Mohammed Shami picked up a wicket each.

Rohit’s Return to Form Powers India’s Chase

India’s chase got off to a flying start, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill (60) putting on 136 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was at his best, smashing 12 fours and seven sixes, silencing critics with a masterclass in strokeplay.

Though India needed just 30 runs off the last 10 overs, they lost quick wickets in the 40th and 41st overs, creating some late drama. However, Ravindra Jadeja finished things off in style with a boundary, ensuring India reached 305/6 in 48.3 overs.

With this win, India takes a 2-0 lead, confirming the series victory ahead of the final ODI.
