Shawano Drug Trafficker Jailed for Deadly Fentanyl Sales

In a stark reminder of the deadly consequences of drug trafficking, a Shawano man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. Lee Lindner, 38, will spend 30 years in prison, followed by 17 years of extended supervision, for his involvement in a drug ring that claimed the lives of at least two individuals.

The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of criminal activity. From January to June 2023, Lindner conspired with six others to distribute over 100 grams of fentanyl in Shawano County and nearby areas. This highly potent opioid has been a major contributor to the ongoing drug overdose epidemic in the United States. Lindner's operation also included the distribution of methamphetamine throughout the county from July 2019 to June 2023, further exacerbating the drug crisis.

The tragic impact of Lindner's actions became evident in April and May 2023 when two individuals died from fentanyl overdoses after obtaining the drug from Lindner's network. The first victim, who resided on the Menominee Indian Reservation, received the deadly dose from an individual supplied by Lindner. Just a month later, another life was lost due to Lindner's distribution of fentanyl.

"Drug traffickers must understand that their actions have severe repercussions," Attorney General Josh Kaul emphasized. This case serves as a warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade, demonstrating the commitment of law enforcement to hold them accountable for the harm they inflict on communities.
