Hyderabad Battles Flooding: Emergency Response in Full Swing

As the skies continue to pour down on Hyderabad, the city's Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) are gearing up for a challenging task. With the relentless rains showing no signs of abating, the Water Board has sprung into action, implementing a comprehensive plan to safeguard the city and its residents.

In a proactive move, Water Board MD Ashok Reddy has ordered a special two-day drive, commencing at the break of dawn each day. This operation will focus on floodwater removal and sewer clearance, ensuring that the city's infrastructure can withstand the deluge. Reddy's directive to DGMs to personally inspect sewer jetting machines in flooded areas underscores the urgency of the situation. The aim is to swiftly address complaints of sewage overflow from manholes and household chokes, preventing potential health hazards and further inconvenience to the public.

The Water Board is also taking measures to maintain the quality of drinking water. Reddy has stressed the importance of rigorous testing during supply hours, especially in vulnerable areas like slums and low-lying neighborhoods. Additionally, ED Mayank Mittal has ordered that field staff be equipped with protective gear, including helmets, gloves, and gumboots, ensuring their safety as they work tirelessly to restore normalcy. The distribution of chlorine tablets in flood-affected areas is also being coordinated to maintain water quality.

With the situation under control, the Water Board is urging citizens to exercise caution and refrain from opening manhole covers. The Board has also initiated coordination with HYDRAA, GHMC, and police officials to ensure a unified response to this natural challenge. Hyderabad's residents can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their city is in capable hands, ready to tackle any emergencies that may arise.
