The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 is set to return after an eight-year hiatus, offering record-breaking prize money. The winners of the prestigious eight-team tournament will receive a whopping $2.24 million (approximately INR 20 crore) along with the coveted trophy, while the runners-up will take home $1.12 million. Losing semi-finalists will still earn a substantial $560,000 each, ensuring high stakes for all participating teams.
The total prize pool for the tournament stands at $6.9 million, marking a 53% increase from the 2017 edition. Every group-stage victory carries a financial reward of over $34,000, making every match crucial. Teams finishing fifth and sixth will receive $350,000 each, while the seventh and eighth-placed teams will earn $140,000.
The tournament, which will be hosted in Pakistan for the first time since 1996, promises an exciting two-week showdown, with matches scheduled in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The format includes two groups of four teams, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
ICC Chair Jay Shah emphasized the tournament's significance, stating, “The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent, where every match is critical. The substantial prize pot underscores our commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining its global prestige.”
Adding to the excitement, the ICC has also confirmed the launch of the Women's Champions Trophy in 2027, which will follow a T20 format.With a lucrative prize pool and high competition, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to deliver thrilling cricket action, drawing fans from around the world.
