Massive Drug Bust in Hyderabad: Rs 12,000 Crore Seized, 12 Arrested

In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, the Maharashtra Police have dismantled a major drug manufacturing unit in Hyderabad, seizing a staggering Rs 12,000 crore worth of narcotics and arresting 12 individuals. This operation, spanning over a month, has exposed a sophisticated drug network and shed light on the intricate workings of the illicit drug trade.

The investigation began with the interception of a young Bangladeshi woman, Fatima Murad Shaikh, on August 8th, near the Kashimira bus stop in Thane district. The discovery of 105 grams of mephedrone on her person led the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Crime Detection Unit to delve deeper. As the probe intensified, the team, led by Police Inspector Pramod Badakh, traced the supply chain to Telangana, where a clandestine unit in Navodaya Colony, Cherlapalli, was raided. This operation resulted in the arrest of Srinivas Vijay Voleti, Tanaji Pandharinath Patwari, and ten others.

The success of this mission lies in penetrating the upper echelons of the drug syndicate. MBVV Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik emphasized the rarity of reaching the manufacturers, who are typically insulated from direct involvement in distribution. This breakthrough not only disrupts the supply chain but also provides valuable insights into the inner workings of the drug trade, potentially aiding future investigations.

As the probe continues, the public awaits further updates, and the police anticipate additional arrests. This bust serves as a stark reminder of the persistent battle against the illegal drug trade and the importance of continued vigilance and proactive law enforcement measures.
