In a significant step forward in the battle against human trafficking, Hyderabad Police has established Telangana's inaugural Anti-Human Trafficking Unit - Victim Assistance Centre (AHTU-VAC), marking a new era in the state's anti-trafficking efforts. This centre, located within the Women's Police Station in Basheerbagh, promises to be a beacon of hope for survivors, offering a comprehensive support system.

The AHTU-VAC is a collaborative effort, bringing together a diverse team of professionals, including police officers, psychologists, legal experts, and medical professionals. The collaboration with NGOs Prajwala and My Choices Foundation brings invaluable expertise in rescue operations, rehabilitation, and survivor empowerment, further strengthening the centre's capabilities.

With its innovative model, the AHTU-VAC sets a precedent for Telangana's anti-trafficking strategy, focusing on improved coordination between law enforcement and NGOs. By addressing various forms of exploitation, including bonded labour, child labour, forced marriages, and sexual exploitation, the centre aims to tackle the root causes of trafficking.
