The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with Eden Gardens set to host the final after a ten-year gap. The tournament will begin on March 22, 2025, in Kolkata, and the final will take place at the same venue on May 25, 2025.

KKR vs RCB to Kick Off the Season

The opening match will see defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens on March 22. This clash will likely feature new captains for both teams. A total of 74 matches will be played across 13 venues, with 12 double-headers. The first double-header on March 23 will feature Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the afternoon, followed by the El Clasico of IPL—Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Mumbai Indians (MI)—in the evening. Afternoon games will start at 3:30 PM IST, while evening matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST.

Playoffs in Hyderabad and Kolkata

The league stage will end on May 18 with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) taking on SRH in Lucknow. The playoffs will begin on May 20 with Qualifier 1 in Hyderabad, followed by the Eliminator on May 21. The second qualifier (May 23) and the grand final (May 25) will take place at Eden Gardens, which last hosted the IPL final in 2015 when MI defeated CSK.

Teams Playing at Multiple Venues

Some teams will split their home matches between two venues. Delhi Capitals (DC) will play in Visakhapatnam and New Delhi, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) will split games between New Chandigarh and Dharamsala. Similarly, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play two games in Guwahati and the rest in Jaipur.

Key Rivalries and Blockbuster Clashes

The highly anticipated CSK vs MI clash will take place on March 23 in Chennai, with the return leg scheduled for April 20 at Wankhede. CSK will have a thrilling start to the season, with their first two matches at home against MI and RCB. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant's new team, LSG, will face his former franchise, DC, in the fourth match of the season.
