In a significant move to address the persistent power woes in rural areas, the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is set to transform the region's electrical infrastructure. With a substantial investment of Rs 400 crores under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), the Central Government aims to bring about a much-needed change in the lives of rural residents. This initiative, led by APSPDCL Chief General Manager J Ramana Devi, promises to alleviate the issues of low voltage and frequent power outages.
During a surprise visit to several villages, including Pottepalem, Deverapalem, Kommalapudi, and Sidhipuram, Devi and her team inspected the ongoing RDSS project works. The CGM assured the public of the government's commitment to providing quality power supply, stating that the initiative would establish new electric lines and transformers under 139 substations across the district. This comprehensive upgrade aims to ensure a 24/7 power supply, catering to both cultivation and domestic needs.
Furthermore, the project will revamp 336 Agriculture Feeders (AFs) in Kavali, Atmakur, Kovur, and Nellore Rural divisions, significantly enhancing the power distribution network. The APSPDCL's Executive Engineers, including Rajendra Prasad, Parandhamaiah, Bhanunaik, Sridhar, and Lakshmi Narayana, are closely monitoring the progress. The team's recent review meeting at Vidyut Bhavan and the subsequent inspection of the Container Sub Station (CSS) works at Gandhibomma Center in the city demonstrate their dedication to ensuring the project's success.
This ambitious initiative is a step towards empowering rural communities, fostering agricultural growth, and improving the overall quality of life. With the ongoing efforts, the region is poised to witness a new era of reliable and efficient power supply, driving rural development and prosperity. As the project unfolds, residents eagerly anticipate the day when stable electricity becomes the norm rather than a luxury.
