Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their second consecutive win in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets. Skipper Smriti Mandhana played a sensational knock, scoring 81 off 47 balls, leading from the front to chase down the 142-run target with ease.
Mandhana’s explosive innings, her best in the WPL so far, was well-supported by Danni Wyatt-Hodge (107-run partnership) for the opening wicket. Despite both openers getting dismissed within five overs after the halfway mark, Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh finished the chase in just 17 overs.
RCB’s Bowlers Dominate
Earlier, RCB won the toss and elected to field first. The bowling attack, led by Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham, was outstanding, as both bowlers took three wickets each to bowl DC out for 141 in 19.3 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored for DC with 34 off 22 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to capitalize on the start.
