The scam unfolded over three harrowing days, from September 5 to 8, as the fraudsters, posing as law enforcement, orchestrated a terrifying ordeal. Using an instant messaging app with a fake Bangalore Police logo, they contacted the doctor, accusing her of involvement in human trafficking. The criminals fabricated official-looking documents, including a fake investigation report with her Aadhaar details, to appear legitimate. After transferring Rs 6.60 lakh from her pension account, the elderly doctor suffered a massive cardiac arrest and passed away on September 8. Even after her death, the scammers continued their callous messages, unaware of the tragedy they had caused.
