Pharma's Future: UP's Vision for a Healthy Nation

In a significant gathering of pharmaceutical stakeholders, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled Uttar Pradesh's ambitious plans to become a global pharma hub. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Chemists and Druggists Federation of Uttar Pradesh, the CM highlighted the state's transformation from a mafia-ridden region to a thriving medical hub with 41 new medical colleges and two AIIMS established in just eight years. This rapid development has positioned UP as a healthcare provider for its 25 crore population and neighbouring states.

The Chief Minister emphasised the crucial role of the pharmaceutical sector in this vision, stating that public trust is the cornerstone of any successful business. With over 5 lakh people employed in 1.10 lakh registered pharmacies, the state has become the world's largest pharmaceutical consumer market. Yogi Adityanath urged the industry to uphold this trust by ensuring quality medicines and actively combating counterfeit drugs. He commended the government's recent crackdown on fake medicines in Agra and illegal narcotics trade in other districts, demonstrating their commitment to public health.

Yogi Adityanath also addressed recent tax reforms, noting that the GST Council's decision to reduce pharmaceutical tax rates will make life-saving drugs more affordable. This move, he believes, will strengthen the market and benefit both consumers and traders. The event, attended by various dignitaries, including Minister of State Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu and Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, concluded with Federation officials honouring the Chief Minister, symbolising their united front against drug-related issues and their shared commitment to the state's healthcare vision.
