In a significant move, the Hyderabad Police have embarked on a mission to rebrand their fleet of vehicles, reflecting a change in the state's identity. The force has replaced the abbreviation 'TS' with 'TG' on the number plates of its patrol and police station vehicles, a decision that has sparked a wave of updates across the city.
The transformation began with the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Headquarters taking charge of 188 government vehicles. This overhaul, estimated at Rs 1.6 crore, involved more than just a plate swap. It included meticulous attention to detail, such as machine polishing, dent repair, and painting, ensuring that each vehicle was not just rebranded but also restored to its former glory. The process also encompassed engine repairs and internal hardware maintenance, guaranteeing the vehicles' optimal performance.
As of Sunday, 134 patrol vehicles have been re-commissioned, ready to patrol the streets of Hyderabad. These revamped vehicles are set to play a crucial role in the city's law enforcement, promising quicker response times during emergencies and an overall boost in police efficiency. The remaining vehicles under the Hyderabad City Police umbrella, including Traffic ACP, Inspector, Pilot, and Interceptor vehicles, are next in line for this makeover.
This change is not merely cosmetic but is part of a broader rebranding strategy initiated by the Telangana government in May 2023. The state's decision to switch from 'TS' to 'TG' has been adopted by the Centre, impacting various government entities and communication channels. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's statement highlights the previous administration's lack of consistency, emphasizing the need for a more standardized approach to state representation.
