Pakistan vs Bangladesh Champions Trophy 2025 match abandoned due to rain

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was abandoned due to persistent rain, with no play possible at any stage. The overnight rain, which continued intermittently throughout the day, prevented the toss from taking place. Umpires Adrian Holdstock and Michael Gough were set to inspect the conditions once the rain stopped, but the weather showed no signs of improvement, ultimately leading to the match being called off.

Both teams had already been eliminated from the semi-final race after losing their first two group-stage matches. India and New Zealand advanced from Group A, while in Group B, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan are still in contention for the remaining semi-final spots. England have already been knocked out.

Weather reports had predicted rain interruptions in Rawalpindi, with temperatures around 18°C and occasional showers in the afternoon and evening. The pitch was expected to be batting-friendly, with a flat surface likely to produce high scores. However, overcast conditions could have provided some assistance to fast bowlers early on. Historically, Pakistan have dominated Bangladesh in ODIs, winning 34 out of 39 encounters. Despite their past struggles, Bangladesh would have aimed to challenge Pakistan and end their tournament on a positive note. However, the washout left both teams winless, bringing their campaigns to a disappointing conclusion.
