Liverpool Extends Lead as Arsenal Stumbles; Haaland Shines for City

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister secured the win, keeping Arne Slot’s team on course for their 20th league title. Szoboszlai opened the scoring in the 11th minute after a cutback from Luis Diaz, while Mac Allister sealed the result in the 63rd minute following an assist from Mohamed Salah.

Arsenal, Liverpool’s closest challengers, were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest. Having lost to West Ham in their previous match, Arsenal struggled to break through Forest’s defense, further diminishing their title hopes. They now sit on 54 points, with one game in hand, while Liverpool lead with 67 points.

Manchester City moved back into the top four with a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, thanks to Erling Haaland’s early goal in the 12th minute. Haaland became only the second player in Premier League history to score at least 20 goals in each of his first three seasons, matching Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record for Manchester United from 2001 to 2004.

Manchester United played out an eventful 3-2 victory over relegation-threatened Ipswich Town. Ipswich took the lead through Jaden Philogene after a defensive error, but United responded with a quick turnaround, benefiting from an own goal by Ipswich captain Sam Morsy and a goal from Matthijs de Ligt. United were reduced to 10 men after Patrick Dorgu was sent off just before halftime, allowing Ipswich to equalize through Philogene. Despite being a man down, Harry Maguire scored the winning goal, pushing Ipswich deeper into the relegation zone. United now sit 14th with 33 points, while Ipswich remain five points from safety after suffering their sixth defeat in seven games.

Elsewhere, Everton extended their unbeaten run under returning manager David Moyes to seven games with a 1-1 draw at Brentford. Yoane Wissa gave Brentford the lead before Jake O’Brien equalized, marking his first goal for Everton. Liverpool’s recent form and Arsenal’s struggles suggest that the title race is slipping away from the London club, while Manchester City continue to chase a top-four finish.
