Hyderabad Police's Golden Care: A Shield for Seniors

In a heartwarming initiative, the Hyderabad Police have embarked on a mission to safeguard the city's senior citizens, a vulnerable yet invaluable segment of society. The Rachakonda Commissionerate, in collaboration with the Rachakonda Security Council (RKSC), has launched 'Golden Care', a program designed to provide comprehensive support and protection to the elderly.

The project aims to address the rising concerns of cyber scams and physical and emotional abuse targeting senior citizens. Led by Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu and the RKSC Chairman, the police teams will conduct regular visits to offer moral support, cyber safety education, and essential SOS setup to the elderly. This proactive approach is a welcome change, ensuring that the seniors feel valued and protected.

'Golden Care' goes beyond just security. It includes medical assistance through hospital tie-ups and guidance on government welfare schemes, such as pensions and health insurance. This holistic approach is a significant step towards ensuring the well-being of senior citizens, who often face challenges in accessing such services independently.

The initiative is legally backed, with provisions like Section 144 BNSS and the Maintenance Act (Sections 4 and 5) empowering seniors to claim support from their families and hold neglectful parties accountable. The Rachakonda Police's commitment to this cause is evident, with dedicated helplines (Senior Citizen Helpline 14567 and WhatsApp 8712662111) ensuring easy access to assistance.

As Commissioner Sudheer Babu aptly stated, "Our senior citizens are the pillars of strength and wisdom." With 'Golden Care', the police aim to build a community that not only protects but also respects and cares for its elderly, fostering a sense of security and dignity.
