Fresher Hiring Intentions Surge to 74% as IT Sector Recovers: TeamLease Report

TeamLeaseEdTech’s career outlook report for the first half of 2025 highlights asignificant rise in fresher hiring intentions, driven by demand for deep-techskills such as robotic process automation, artificial intelligence (AI),machine learning, cloud computing, network security, and prompt engineering.The report also points to growing interest in professional certificate courses,including those in Generative AI and Machine Learning, certified roboticengineering, cloud computing, DevOps, healthcare management, and AIapplications.

According to the findings, hiring intent for freshers in the firsthalf of 2025 is at 74%, reflecting strong business confidence moving into thecoming months. The report, based on a survey of 649 employers across India,provides valuable insights into freshers' and degree apprentices' hiringtrends, as well as the emerging skills in demand.

The report reveals that several industries are showing robustrecruitment momentum compared to the second half of 2024. For example,e-commerce and tech startups increased hiring intent from 61% to 70%, whilemanufacturing rose from 52% to 66%. Engineering and infrastructure also saw aslight increase from 59% to 62%. The IT sector has experienced a notablerecovery, with entry-level hiring intentions jumping from 45% in the secondhalf of 2024 to 59%. Similarly, the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sector grewfrom 47% to 52%.

Even traditionally smaller sectorssuch as power & energy and marketing & advertising are showing moderategrowth. Geographically, major employment hubs for fresh graduates remainBengaluru (78%), Mumbai (65%), Delhi NCR (61%), and Chennai (57%).

Emerging career paths in thedeep-tech domain are gaining traction, including roles like clinicalbioinformatics associate, robotics systems engineer, sustainability analyst,prompt engineer, AI and machine learning engineer, cloud engineer, and cybersecurityanalyst.

Employersare increasingly looking for candidates with expertise in robotic processautomation, performance marketing, network security, and financial riskanalysis to meet modern business challenges. In addition to technical skills,employers are prioritizing soft skills such as computational thinking,interpersonal abilities, analytical reasoning, and adaptability for entry-levelpositions.
