J&K Police Crackdown: Uncovering the Dark Trade

In a significant blow to the illicit drug trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended two suspected drug peddlers and seized a substantial amount of narcotics in two separate operations. The crackdown, which took place in the districts of Budgam and Shopian, highlights the authorities' unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace.

On Sunday, officials revealed that a police team, acting on precise intelligence, set up a checkpoint in the Wachi area of Shopian, intercepting a suspect, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh, from Pombia Kulgam. The search yielded a significant find: 101 grams of a charas-like substance, raising concerns about the scale of the operation. Simultaneously, in Budgam, another police operation led to the arrest of Moomin Qadir Dhobi, a local resident, from whom 112 grams of a similar substance was confiscated.

The operations didn't stop there. In a separate raid, the police, armed with a search warrant, entered the residence of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh in the Zainapora area of Shopian. This raid uncovered a substantial 1 kg of charas, along with a grinder machine, indicating a well-established processing setup. The accused, however, remains at large, prompting an intensive search to bring him to justice.

These operations underscore the police's proactive approach in tackling drug-related crimes. With substantial quantities of narcotics seized, the focus now shifts to the ongoing investigations and the potential impact on the region's drug supply chain. As the authorities continue their efforts, the public awaits further developments, hoping for a safer and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
