In a powerful display of unity, the Edo State government and the Mariam Ashley Yusuf (MAY) Foundation have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking campaign, rallying students, educators, and community leaders in the fight against human trafficking, irregular migration, sexual exploitation, and drug abuse. This initiative, unveiled at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin City, marks a significant step towards protecting the state's youth from the shadows of modern-day slavery.

The campaign, inspired by Governor Monday Okpebholos's SHINE Agenda, aims to educate and empower young people to recognize and resist these societal ills. Ambassador Mariam Ashley Yusuf, the founder of MAY, passionately shared her vision, stating that "Each day, countless Nigerian girls face their dreams being stolen by trafficking, abuse, and drugs." Her book, 'Stolen Dream: A Nigerian Girl's Journey through Sex Trafficking,' serves as a poignant reminder of the harsh realities many face.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, teachers, corps members, and representatives from various agencies like NAPTIP, IOM, and NDLEA. Miss Obiageli Ofulue, speaking on behalf of the students, expressed gratitude for the newfound knowledge and courage to make informed life choices. The campaign's interactive sessions and open discussions provided practical tools to identify and combat exploitation.

As the program concluded, participants pledged to carry the campaign's message beyond the academy's walls, ensuring its impact reaches every corner of the state.
