Tragic School Bus Accident in Mahendragarh: Six to Seven Children Dead, Several Injured

In a tragic incident near Unhani village in Mahendragarh, Haryana, a school bus carrying students from GL Public School in Kanina overturned, resulting in the deaths of six to seven children and injuries to 13 to 20 others.

Cause: The accident occurred as the driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle. Reports indicate the driver was speeding and potentially drunk. A medical examination confirmed alcohol consumption.

Vehicle Condition: The bus's fitness certificate had expired six years ago.

Response: Police arrested the driver, the school principal Deepti Rao, and the school secretary Hoshiar Singh. Injured students were taken to hospitals in Mahendragarh and Narnaul.

Official Reactions: Haryana's Education Minister Seema Trikha and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressed condolences and assured support.

Holiday Violation: The accident occurred despite a government holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, with the school remaining open.
