Nagpur Police's War on Drugs: Massive Haul Destroyed

In a bold move against the illicit drug trade, Nagpur's law enforcement has dealt a significant blow to the narcotics network. Under the leadership of Commissioner Ravinder Singal, the city police have destroyed a staggering 272 kilograms of various drugs, valued at an estimated 1.42 crore rupees. This operation, codenamed 'Thunder', is a powerful statement in the ongoing battle to create a drug-free environment.

The seized substances, including ganja, MD powder, charas, and doda powder, were confiscated from 100 different cases across multiple police stations in Nagpur. The disposal process, adhering to strict guidelines, took place at the Maharashtra Enviro Limited facility in Butibori MIDC. This action is the latest in a series of large-scale drug destruction operations. Earlier this year, in June, the police eliminated over 714 kilograms of drugs worth 11.32 crores from 54 cases and, just four days later, disposed of another 733 kilograms, valued at 11.37 crores, from 110 cases.

The total value of the narcotics seized and destroyed in this campaign, 'Operation Thunder', amounts to an impressive 13.12 crores. Senior police officials and the dedicated anti-narcotics team oversaw the process, ensuring the drugs were disposed of safely and in accordance with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board's regulations. This operation sends a clear message to drug traffickers and dealers, demonstrating the police's commitment to eradicating the drug menace from Nagpur's streets. With such substantial hauls being taken out of circulation, the city's law enforcement is making significant progress in its mission to create a safer, healthier community.
