This shocking revelation comes from the National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) recent Crime in India report, which paints a grim picture of the state's road safety situation.

Among the casualties, overspeeding emerges as the deadliest culprit, claiming 6,720 lives, a number that represents nearly 87% of the total fatalities. The state's accidental death rate of 35 per lakh population exceeds the national average, emphasizing the severity of the crisis. The data further reveals that two-wheelers bear the brunt of these accidents, with 3,844 deaths, followed by cars and SUVs (583) and trucks (401). Pedestrians, too, are not spared, with 1,554 tragic losses.

The NCRB's report also sheds light on the critical timing of these accidents, with the evening rush between 6 pm and 9 pm being the most dangerous, and December witnessing the highest number of accidents.
